PET bottle production process:

How is a PET bottle made at Garota Ltd.?

PET bottles have become an integral part of our everyday lives, whether it’s for food, cleaning products or cosmetic products. But how is such a bottle made, from the initial granulate to the finished, shaped product? At Garota Ltd., every step of production is carried out in the spirit of quality, efficiency and sustainability.

Raw material: PET granules

The process starts with PET (polyethylene terephthalate) granules, which can be either new or recycled rPET. The granules are prepared for production from the warehouse.

The granules are fed into the Nissei ABS machine via a large conveyor tube.

Preform production

The preform is made from granules heated to 270 °C. The granules are mixed until they become a homogeneous paste, which is injected into a preform mold. These preforms do not yet resemble bottles – they are more like test tubes – but they already contain the neck of the final bottle, including the thread.

Blow molding – molding the bottle

The preform regains its formability when the infrared lamps heat it up again to 100°C. The intensity and distribution of the heating are very important to achieve a final product with spectacular and excellent technical properties. The preform is transferred to the final mold. The stretching rod stretches the preform, while the pre-blow air inflates it like a balloon. Then the high-pressure air presses the preform against the wall of the mold, which has cooled to about 6 °C. After the blow air is released, the bottle takes on its final shape, size and volume, whether it is a 100 ml cosmetic bottle or a 1 liter wine bottle.

Quality control

The finished bottles are subjected to thorough quality control. Our colleagues check the wall thickness, transparency, dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties. Garota Kft. manufactures in accordance with MSZ EN ISO 9001:2015 and MSZ EN ISO 14001:2015 standards.

Packaging and shipping

The approved bottles are then placed on a cardboard tray, covered with foil and carefully wrapped with stretch wrap and placed on pallets in the warehouse. Our products are sensitive to heat and sunlight, which can cause deformation in PET bottles, so the transport to the warehouse and the storage requirements at our company have been designed accordingly. Each unit package has a Product Accompanying Label, which contains the production data (product name, capacity, gram weight, number of pieces, production time and employee name) for traceability.

Sustainability and innovation

At Garota Ltd., our main goal is to increase the proportion of environmentally friendly production and recycled rPET. Modern technology allows us to produce our products with less energy consumption and a smaller ecological footprint – while fully satisfying the quality needs of our customers.

Summary

The production of a PET bottle at Garota is not just a technological process – it is the result of a responsible, precise and sustainable manufacturing approach. Whether it is a standard or custom shape, all our products reflect our commitment to quality.
